Road Rash Biker Bash 2006 Rally Ringgold, GA August 18-20th, 2006 A not so little party anymore I remember the very first Road Rash Biker Bash, just a few people in a field. And then it started raining and we all went and partied in some farmers chicken barn... how this rally has grown. It was a pretty good time with a couple of contests, a bike show, biker rodeo games and of course some rockin' bands including DAVID ALLEN COE & BIG MIKE GRIFFIN ! Like I said, they've grown. David Allen Coe played on friday night and it was... well... you know... I really hate to say anything bad but he did show up an hour late. And played for less than an hour. A few of his own songs and a bunch of covers. What can I say? Not exactly what I was expecting. I guess he didn't get all pissed off at the crowd, didn't throw down his guitar & stomp off stage and did manage to actually spend most of his (rather short) show upright... which is more than I can say about some other times I've seen him play. What impressed me the most is when he finally got there and up on stage he looked down & saw his shoelace was untied... and one of his band peons rushed out on stage and tied it for him while he sang. Damn, you know you makin' a lot of cash when your time is so precious you can't even take 6 seconds off to tie you shoelace. On the other hand Saturday night had Big Mike Griffin and he flat out just plain fucking rocks! Not only did he show up on time, he actually played original songs. And did an encore. And he's great! My personal favorite is his ''I can't afford to ride my Harley No More'' song. He's a real musician that loves what he does and it shows. But I guess I'm just not famous enough, because I got the brush off and was told (by another one of his peons) that I need to call his agent, sign a bunch of papers and get cleared before I could talk to the man. Because I look like a hired assassin?!?!? Honestly all the years I've been shooting biker parties NOBODY has EVER mistaken me for a ninja. Whatever. Besides, Mr Coe showed up late and took off like a shot about 7.4 seconds after he got off stage. Sorry ya'll, I did try. A couple of other bands played over the weekend, and they had the traditional field events & bike show on Saturday afternoon. Saturday night they had a Pickle sucking contest, a Wet t shirt contest and a Mr Road rash contest. Friday night was rather quiet, but things livened up quite a bit on Saturday evening and I ended up having a great time. All in all I think it was well worth the trip, and so did a couple/three thousand other people. It was as hot as hell. And then it rained. But when it's all said and done... I went, I saw and I had a great time. I definately plan on going back next year. ---------------------- Campground Description : Located at the Peavine, in Ringgold Georgia. About 5 minutes south of Chattenooga, TN. Lot's of room, open fields, some shade. FREE primitive (tent) camping. FREE hot showers on location. Hotels less than 10 minutes all around.
