Riders of the Storm 2006 - Biker Party
Riders of the Storm Alexandria, LA May 11-14th, 2006 Pretty damn good, especially for a first time rally As you may or may not know the annual state hog rally in Alexandria, LA was cancelled this year... so some good old boys decided to host their own event. HISTORY : This is their first ever event, so their really isn't much yet :) Proceeds donated to two good causes : Bikers Down a charity to benefit bikers that have fallen upon hard times and the Salvation Army. And yes, the organisers plan on making this a yearly event. I would guess that maybe a 1,500-2,000 people showed up for the very first ever BIKERS OF THE STORM rally, which is pretty damn good for a first time party. Located at the coleseum in Alexendria, Louisiana. Pretty good spot for a rally, with a large indoor (and air conditioned) room containing the stage and a few vendors. Sort of reminds me of the Dothan bike fest for those of you that have been there. More vendors out back, with the back parking lot converted to RV accomodations and a small grassy area for primitive (tent) camping. The front parking lot was reserved for motorcycle parking. A TON of bands played over the weekend, some of which were suprisingly good. Quite a few contests... including a very extensive burnout contest where one old boy show up butt ass nekid, and a new one for me, the ''thong pull''. You get these girls up on stage (topless) and tie one of those little red wagons to their thongs. Then you pile more & more cases of beer onto the wagon to see exactly how much weight they can pull before the thongs snap & go flying accross the room! Pretty cool, I think every biker party should have a thong pull contest. They also had a loud pipes contest, some biker games in the side parking lot (slow race, balloon toss & weenie bite). And of course a tattoo contest and both male & female... ah... let's see... was it a dirty dancing contest or was that the best buns contest? Whatever, who cares? It was a lot of fun whatever the official title of the event was. A LOT of media attended this event, with everybody from Easy Riders to Skunk dots showing up to cover the event. And of course the best one of them all.... ME ! :) It was a pretty damn good little party, and much better than many I've been to. And this one definately holds promise, it could easily grow into something real big, real fast in the next few years. Keep your eye on it, and mark it down on your calendars for mother's day weekend 2007 next year. Yo' moma's around EVERY weekend, but there is only ONE WEEKEND for the riders of the storm biker party! P.S. For all you mothers out there that are about to get pissed off at me, why don't you go to this rally? Then you could have a biker party AND a mothers day thingy... all in one weekend ! See?
