ChopperVille USA Ultimate Backyard Party 2005 Dunlap, TN September 2-4th, 2005 An old school, real grass roots biker party. I've been hearing about the ''ultimate backyard party'' put on by ChopperVille USA for a few years now, and have always meant to go check it out. This past weekend was my chance as the Labor Day biker party in Enon, LA was postponed due to hurricane Katrina. After a long beautifull drive through the Tennessee mountains, you get to the little town of Dunlap. The campgrounds are a field located at the very top of a mountain overlooking the town. Mind you it get's chilly in them there hills in September, so remember to pack yourself an extra blanket. The party itself was a real honest old school, ''grass roots'' biker party. Like they used to have in the old days, before all the vendors started accepting credit cards and the Discovery channel started making documentaries about how cool the biker lifestyle is. Was. Whatever. I got there Friday afternoon, set up camp & just hung out with some people I know. Things were rather low key, but the did have a little contest & some bands playing late into the night. Saturday morning things started off... in the early afternoon :) In case you don't know it there are actually 4 different time zones in north america. East, central, mountain & BIKER! This rally was definately running on BIKER time, with a bike show, a biker rodeo and a loud pipes contest starting early afternoon'ish. Then after a break for dinner the evening festivities commenced and much merriment proceeded late into the night. Unlike most biker rallies, then only had only ONE contest, broken up into several different parts. The bands would play a set and then they would have the ''Miss ChopperVille USA'' contest with maybe a dozen girls or so. Then after narrowing down the field to about half that number they would put the contest on hold and get another band up to play a set or two. After which the remaining girls would get back up on stage and resume the contest until finally late at night they had themselves a winner. It was a pretty good party. The bands rocked and were far better than I expected. And the people there consisted of mainly REAL BIKERS, ya'll know how they like to party. At one point they had a spin the wheel game setup out in the middle of the campgrounds kinda like the wheel they have on ''the price is right''... except THIS wheel had things on it like ''Show your tits'' and ''knock back a jello shot''. Pretty cool if you ask me. This rally reminds me of the old days. When it used to be all about hanging out with your buddies, rock'n roll music, seein' some tits and having a good time. All in all I would say they had about 700 people or so, and everybody there had a good time. And isn't that what it's really all about? ---------------------- Campground Description : Very small grass campgrounds, located on the top of a Tennesee mountain. Small lake for swimming or cooling off.
