HOGROCK 2004 JUNE RALLY
Hogrock June 2004 biker rally Cave in Rock, IL June 03-06th 2004 I wish I knew how to swim ! Damn... what a suprise. I showed up at Hogrock this year only to find that the Ihio river had flooded it's banks and overflowed all over the campgrounds. And if that's not enough, this year Hogrock kept right on growing with yet even more people than last year... and only about half the camping spots. As you can guess it was mahem! The river kept rising, the tents kept moving, the beer kept flowing, the bands kept rocking, the contests... ah... kept contesting? Anyways, what a party it was! It wasn't as organized as usual. How could it be? The main stage area got flooded out, so they had to relocate the stage, some of the vendors and the gogo cages up on top of the hill where it used to be way back when they had their very first rallies. Of course back in those days they might have 300 people or so (shiii-et, they probably showed up on horseback) now with about 13,000+ rowdy bikers showing up looking for a good time... well you get the picture. You know the saying ''neither hell or high water'' ? Well in this case it's true. Seems like NOTHING can keep this party down. It was great. The people were cool as always and everybody had a great time. Usually when there's a snafu everybody starts bitchin' & complaining. Well not here. Everybody just said ''oh well, fuck it let's party anyways'' and proceeded to have a blast. You gotta love a good biker crowd. And a good rally. They did have a few new things this year, including helicopter rides and BODY PAINTING (woohoo!). The also had the ''world's longest motorcycle'' from the guiness book of records, and a bike that had the BIGGEST ape hangers I've ever seen. They usually have the mechanical bull (for topless bull riding) and the ball of death (to put naked chicks in) cycle stunt show right close to the stage, along with the rest of the vendors. This year because the had to move everything at the last minute to the top of the little hill there simply wasn't enough room for everything. They ended up moving the bull, the ball & the rest of the vendors together at the bottom of the hill. It kinda split the party up into two big ones instead of one HUGE one, more's the pity. That's why I only gave it 11 out of 10 beer cans, instead of the customary ''blow it off the scale'' rating. Don't get me wrong, I had as much fun as ever. Hell, maybe even more. There was just something at this rally about people comming together to have a good time no matter what that made the entire weekend seem like a lot of fun. Even flooded out this rally was still bustin' the scale. That's gotta tell ya something. And if I ever retire and decided to only go party at ONE rally every year, HOGROCK WOULD BE IT! ---------------------- Adults Only No children allowed.
