Hawg Valley 2004 RALLY
Hawg Valley Aug 2004 Graham, KY Aug 20-22, 2004 A first time for me This rally is a new one I heard about, so I figured I should get myself invited over to check it out :) It's waaaaay up in the backwoods of Kentucky, and on some guy's private ranch so you would imagine it would be a lot of fun. And it wasn't that bad at all. When I pulled in early Friday evening there were a couple of hundred people there, and it was pretty damp. It had been raining on & off all day... you know how it goes. And then in the evening just when the band started cranking and the people all started shifting into party mode the skies really opened up and let the water drop. But no problem, they've got some old tractor barn up on the hill with a DJ already set up and blasting some tunes. So Of course everbody just shifted the party over there and what happened next could only be described as a good'ol ''Kentucky Hoe-Down'' :) Hell, I think they was even square dancing at one point... what do I know? I ain't from around there! In any case the people was partying, the music was blasting and we was all nice & dry while the rain poured down outside. On Saturday we all got off to a late start. I heard there was a poker run, but honestly I slept through it. I wonder how many people actually went rolling through them Kentucky hills? I think we were all nackered out from the previous night's hoe-down up in the barn. In the afternoon they had a bike show and of course the rodeo games. The sun was out, everything was drying off and about 5-600 people or so had showed up during the day so it actually turned out pretty good considering. You can tell that this is only there second or third rally cuz they all still a little disorganized with a few lulls in the afternoon while everybody kinda just waited around for something to happen. I wish I had a dollar for every time I heard somebody say ''testing, testing, check 1-2-3''. Damn, all that electrical band stuff sure does look pretty complicated. The bike show lasted for a few hours, and there were some long streches with not much to do after the rodeo. Ya know, I guess it really ain't that easy to keep everybody entertained all day. By the time Saturday night rolled around the party shifted up a notch. The had some lives bands, and an early wet t shirt contest (around 8 Pm or so) that was pretty good. And and I do have to mention they had a couple of gogo cages setup for anybody that felt like dancing & putting on a show, and of course they had the mechanical bull guy giving away rides for free. Of course it was the mechanical bull GUY, so although everybody got a turn it was definately ladies first... which is the way it should be :) Later that evening they even had a ''creative bull riding'' contest for the ladies. You can tell bikers like naked chicks, cuz they kept having to ask the bull guy to ease off a bit and try to end the contest so SOMEBODY would check out the band. Hahahhaha... oh well, bikers WILL be bikers, what'cha gonna do about it? All in all it wasn't too bad at all, especially for a first time rally. I'd keep my eye on this one, it's got the potential to turn into something really big in the near future. ---------------------- Adults Only (18 & over) No children allowed.
