2009 Great American Motorcycle Show in Atlanta Georgia
Pretty good for a family bike show, probably because the event promoters hooked up with the guys from Thunder Roads Magazine to bring you some of the best 2009 bikes, loads of great vendors and of course their famous ''Miss Thunder Roads'' calendar girl search.
Some pretty decent motorcycles here, everything from Aprilla to... some bike company that starts with the letter Z. Can't think of one right now but they're probably out there. BMW's, Suzuki, Honda and of course Harley's, you name it they had it.
I met Michael Kamalian of Revolution Manufacturing with his new S&S Build off bike, made from carbon fiber just like one of the new F-22 Raptor fighter planes and probably just as fast. Boasting 175 HP running on a 370lbs bike, you just KNOW that thing can scream! And no, he won't let you try it. Not even just around the parking lot. And no, he doesn't care if you're a famous biker photographer guy. I tried... can you honestly blame me?
The vendors were a big part of this show, and it was even better than a biker rally for picking up great deals on everything from leathers to tires. Some really good deals on just about everything, they even had me shopping!
It's not a wild and crazy party, those don't roll around until the end of February. But it was one of the better motorcycle shows I've been to in a while, you can tell it's done right by people that actually ride. This show was 100% devoted to motorcycles and I highly recommend it.
Even if they won't let you ride the carbon fiber bike.
